TOLEDO, Ohio – It’s almost the weekend, time to treat yourself to a treat. Maybe with something tasty from a local food truck, some yoga or meditation outdoors, or maybe even a nice bouquet of flowers! Read on to plan your go 419 weekend enjoyment.

THURSDAY

Plate One Open Mic Night | Plate one | 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

If you’ve gotten a little creative and want to share, or just want to enjoy the works of others, Plate One’s Open Mic Night is the place to be if you’re sliding into the weekend. This is sure to be a fun evening full of creative expressions with lots of great food, coffee and cocktails.

Whether you’re showing off your new acoustic jam or want to try out your spoken word poetry for someone other than a cat, stop by. Now is your chance!

If you want to perform, registration starts at 5:30 a.m. and the open microphone starts at 6 a.m.

Shortys Back Forty Food Truck | Fallen wooden fairways | 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

It’s almost the weekend so indulge in some incredibly delicious home-style cooking. Shorty’s Back Forty will be seen on the Fallen Timbers fairways so you can have a bite to eat before you tee off. You will be outside from 6pm to 9pm, don’t miss that.

The food truck season begins in Sandusky! If you’re looking for a great lunch, there are several food trucks at Beer, Bait, and Moor every Friday through October. All summer long, you have a choice of pizza and tacos, with a wide variety of different trucks to cater to your every need.

Put – in – Bay Founders Day Weekend | Put-in-bay | 11 clock

There is always something going on in the bay and this weekend everything revolves around the island’s founding fathers! Put-in-Bay story is celebrated at DeRivera Park in downtown Put-in-Bay from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Perfect for the whole family, this features live entertainment, crafts from local and regional vendors, vintage Put-in-Bay memorabilia, and handcrafted jewelry.

Antiques, Glassware, Collectibles and Furniture | Whale auction | 10.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m.

Weekends are perfect for antiquing, and on Fridays in Grand Rapids, you can do just that. There will be lots of great antiques, but also glass, furniture, and some other great things.

They practice safe social distancing and disinfection, so try to do the same. Masks are encouraged.

Story Walk Weekends | Birchard Public Library | 4 p.m.

It is important that these children read all summer long and with this summer reading challenge in Fremont it will be much easier to do! Every Friday there’s a new story with lots of local fun. The children have to challenge themselves to find secret codes and win badges, as well as answer quiz questions.

SATURDAY

Meditation in the park | White House | 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.

To say this year has been stressful is an understatement so we all need to find ways to relax. You can start your Saturday morning with zen meditation in the park. Ordinary Pioneer and Yoga will host a 45 minute outdoor meditation session that is about connecting with the breath, the soul and the beautiful and calming nature around us. They include various breathing exercises and guided meditation to help you find your center. This meditation takes place in the Blue Creek Metropark in Whitehouse.

The course is $ 10 and pre-registration is required. Bring your yoga mats or towels and a pillow for your comfort.

Pop-up flower bar | Rose petal flowers | 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

What’s better than a beautiful bouquet of flowers? Maybe one that you customized yourself. Rose petal flowers are exhibited at the farmers’ market on Saturday with their flower bar in Tiffin. You can choose from a wide variety of locally grown flowers and create your own bouquet.

Outdoor yoga with goats and alpacas | Sunny Meade Alpacas | 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Exercise, goats, alpacas, fresh air and a little sunshine – who says that there is no perfect Saturday ?! This can be YOUR perfect Saturday, just head to Swanton for yoga at Sunny Meade Alpacas.

This is a unique way to experience yoga and is perfect for all animal lovers! No previous yoga experience is required, this is a course for anyone with previous experience.

All health and safety measures are in place, but please note that you will need to bring your own mat as they cannot borrow, social distancing and face masks are required, and there will be plenty of hand sanitizer available! It would also be a good idea to bring sunscreen and bug spray.

One word: PIEROGI. That’s all. Who doesn’t just totally love these things? Grab a Saturday at Libbie Bacon Kitchen for a fun Polish event they host.

Head to downtown Monroe for polka and pierogi, as well as an array of delicious Michigan goodies.
