Toledo looking for fresh perspective on park system from youth

TOLEDO, Ohio – The city of Toledo is seeking students to weigh up choices about the parks and recreation in the area.

The youth council consists of 12-18 students, ages 14-18, and is selected to provide a fresh perspective on community efforts. They will serve a two year term and will be considered leaders.

In the areas of recreation, programming and park design, the board members get to know various aspects of park operation and city administration. All selected officials will focus on improving youth participation and attendance in their neighborhood parks and the city’s 129 park system, and helping to create inclusive spaces for the city’s youth.

Applications are due by June 13, 2021. At least one letter of recommendation from a person other than a relative is required to apply.
