“The landscape of human services has certainly changed in the past few years – especially this year as COVID-19 continues to transform the way our sector meets overwhelming needs,” said Jill Bunge, UWGT director for community Impact. “Our volunteers are very happy to provide long-term financial support to local organizations that are doing really hard work.”
“Time and again I am amazed at the efforts of our current partners to help those in need. With their help, we have reached and achieved some notable milestones over the past six years, ”said Wendy Pestrue, President and CEO of UWGT.
From 2015 to 2020, UWGT invested over $ 20 million in community strategies such as student success, basic needs, school readiness, and healthy lifestyles. During the same period, more than 400,000 people were served by UWGT-assisted services, excluding those helped by United Way 211.

“By looking for new partnerships, we wonder how we can get better. We improve by finding out about new programs, analyzing current programs that have worked, or hearing how programs are trying to re-equip themselves to meet emerging needs, ”said Pestrue.
The number of grant recipients awarded and the type of programs funded are determined by a collection of volunteers known as the Collaborative Impact Cabinet. For this occasion especially, UWGT will welcome additional community reviewers with different life experiences who will also assist with any final funding decisions.
