HOPE Toledo launches affordable preschool program

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – HOPE Toledo, a community organization founded to provide quality early childhood education for our children, has launched its first preschool program.

According to HOPE Toledo, quality childhood education includes full-time tuition, income-based tiered tuition, comprehensive curriculum-based learning, low teacher-child class ratios, active parenting, highly skilled educators, routine developmental assessments, support, coaching, and funding to help providers achieve and maintain quality , as well as regular program reviews and accountable oversight.

“What we already know is that currently over 80 percent of our children go to kindergarten without the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful not only in kindergarten but also in the following classes,” said John Jones, President of HOPE Toledo. “We know that a comprehensive collaborative approach to early childhood and education is really one approach to achieve this.”

Jones says if the community is to give the kids the start they deserve, now is the time to act.

“We know that getting our kids off to a strong start literally means getting better in life for employment and job hunting, graduation and all of those things. And now, more than ever, our community must come together collectively so that we can make a difference for our young people, for our families and ultimately for our community. “

“This partnership is just great. We have the same ethics, we have the same values, we all believe in the same things and that is what this early childhood education program offers our four year olds, ”says Montarey Richardson, owner of the Believe Academy, one of the nine partners.

“We will be able to offer high quality care, low teacher rates, a curriculum, assessments, family engagement and much more that children need to prepare them for kindergarten … We are just trying to bridge the gap between childcare and kindergarten. “

The nine HOPE Toledo Pre-K partners are All 4 Kids, Believe Academy, Catholic Club, Children’s Discovery Center (Talmadge), East Toledo Family Center, Learning Ladder Child Care 2, Quality Time Child Care Center, Rise and Shine Childcare Academy and Daycare Toledo.

Enrollment is now possible and classes are expected to start on September 1st. To register a child or for more information, click here.
